—————————————————————————————————-
Narrator: Now it came about in those days, when Moses had grown up, that he went out to his brethren and looked on their hard labors; and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his brethren.
Moses: (looking side to side) No one’s around. (strikes the Egyptian, who falls down) I’ll have to hide him in the sand.
Narrator: He went out the next day, and behold, two Hebrews were fighting with each other.
Moses: (to Hebrew slave) Why are you striking your companion?
Hebrew slave: Who made you a prince or a judge over us? Are you intending to kill me as you killed the Egyptian?
Moses: (afraid) Surely the matter has become known.
Egyptian servant: Sire. It has become known that Moses has killed an Egyptian.
Pharaoh: Kill him!
Narrator: But Moses fled from the presence of Pharaoh and settled in the land of Midian, and he sat down by a well.
Zipporah: (to her sisters)Let’s fill the troughs to water our father’s flock.
Shepherd: (pushing the sisters) Get out of the way!
Moses: Leave them alone. You’ll need to wait your turn. (to the sisters) Here, let me water your flocks for you.
Zipporah: (to Reuel) Father!
Reuel: Why have you come back so soon today?
Zipporah: An Egyptian delivered us from the hand of the shepherds, and what is more, he even drew the water for us and watered the flock.
Reuel: Where is he then? Why is it that you have left the man behind? Invite him to have something to eat.
Zipporah: My father has asked you to come and have something to eat with him.
Moses: I would be honored.
Reuel: Please stay with us and take my daughter Zipporah to be your wife.
Moses: I would be honored.
Narrator: Then she gave birth to a son, and he named him Gershom.
Moses: For I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.
