Sing to the Lord Object Lesson (1 Chronicles 16:23)

“Sing to the Lord” Object Lesson for Kids

Based on 1 Chronicles 16:7-36

God’s favorite music station is WYOU! Did you know that? How many people here like listening to the radio? Who likes listening on their phone or in Mom or Dad’s car?

Me too! I have my favorite channels in my car–called presets. That means I can just press a button and there’s my favorite music. Sometimes I flip around because I don’t like the commercials and I only like certain kinds of music.

Tell me some of your favorite songs? What are your favorite radio stations? (Let kids answer for a while.) I love some of those songs! Did you know that God has a favorite song too? He listens, He tunes in to hear one singer–that’s you! Everyone sounds different but you–God loves hearing you sing!

Here’s a verse to think about, “Sing to the Lord all the earth; proclaim his salvation day after day.” (1 Chronicles 16:23) So what should we do?

That’s right! We should be singing to the Lord! What else should we do?

Right again! Proclaim his salvation! That means we should tell people that Jesus came to save them. These are things that God LOVES to hear. He tunes in like He’s tuning a radio station when He hears your song. Let’s give it a try. Let’s sing a praise to God! (Lead kids in a praise song.)

Alright, God’s listening! We sang some praises. Now what else should we do? That’s right, tell people about Jesus! I’m going to do that and then I’m going to give anyone who wants to talk about Jesus the chance to do that.

Say, “I love Jesus. He saved me. Before I was Jesus’ friend, I was sad all the time. So very sad but now I am happy because he forgave me of all my sins.”

See how easy that was? Who wants to proclaim Jesus? (Give kids the opportunity to share their love for Jesus. Don’t force anyone and it’s okay if the kids are too shy.) End the service with more praise and read the verse again.

1 Chronicles 16:7-36  (NIV)

That day David first appointed Asaph and his associates to give praise to the Lord in this manner:

Give praise to the Lord, proclaim his name;
    make known among the nations what he has done.
Sing to him, sing praise to him;
    tell of all his wonderful acts.
10 Glory in his holy name;
    let the hearts of those who seek the Lord rejoice.
11 Look to the Lord and his strength;
    seek his face always.

  1. Thank you so much for this information. I have been looking for materials to help my 11 years old son continue his learning and his love for the word of God. I love doing the trivia with him and his oldest sister. I pray that God blesses the works of your hands. Have a blessed 2022!!
